Dear
Parents,
I am looking forward to working with
you and your child. We hope to make this
year fun, interesting, and full of learning.
I would like to take this opportunity
to give you some information regarding your child’s education. I feel it is extremely important to have
parents involved, and therefore I will try to keep you informed as to what is
going on in our classroom, and what things you should be working on at home
with your child.
I am asking for your support by
reading with your child on a daily basis.
Your child will be responsible to read to you or with you for
approximately 15 minutes each night. In
your child’s take home folder, there is a reading recording sheet that
must be completed by you as the parent.
This is homework for both you and your child to complete together. Please help set a good example by setting
aside time to do this each night to show your child that being responsible is
important. Your child will be rewarded
for completing his/her reading log.
Each night, your child brings home a take
home folder. This folder should go
home every night and come back to school each morning. It will contain important flyers, homework,
notes, and work that needs to be corrected.
Please help your child empty this folder each night. If papers have corrections to be made they
should be returned corrected the next day.
Any homework in the take home folder is due the following day, unless a
note states otherwise.
Second grade will be a continuation of
learning the building blocks of reading, math, etc. These skills are built upon each year and are
important basic life skills that people use everyday.
Together, we can make this year full
of successful learning experiences and happy school memories for your child. I will be looking forward to meeting you.
If you have specific questions or need
to set up a time to meet with me, please feel free to call me before or after
school. The best time to call me is
before the children arrive and after they leave school at my school number
568-4465 ext. 131. I also can be reached
at home in case of emergencies 608-931-1036.
Sincerely,
Ms.
